Whitecourt: a fireguard built to a real risk map
The Town of Whitecourt sits surrounded by dense forest, where a wildfire could quickly reach homes, schools, and critical infrastructure. We worked with the town to plan and install a fireguard where the risk data indicated it was needed: a 4.7-kilometre, 100-metre-wide fuel break covering roughly 47 hectares along Whitecourt's eastern edge.
